Mind, Mind
Mind, Mind stop torturing me
The games that you play just won't let me be
Lost in the whirlwind of lies that I've told
Afraid that sin's curtain has left this room cold
These thoughts that plague me call this blind man's bluff
Perhaps I've gone crazy or I'm not good enough
Mind, Mind leave me alone
For where darkness lies sin creates clones
and I'm much too timid turn on the light
The atmosphere's frigid but I'm safe in the night
and I can still hold You where no one will see me
The more that I know you the better I see me
Mind, Mind May I be so bold
To ask you to leave me lest love waxes cold?
I'll think with my heart and pray for Your grace
to tear me apart but still hide my face
And never let go of that which is good!
I sometimes hold on but only You could;
erase my shame, force me into light
Yet who can I blame when I've picked my own fight?
Maybe You'll see me since I'm sure I won't
Maybe You'll free me unless I say: "Don't!"
You do things Your way but I still want mine
On a given day, my life, it seems fine
Mind, Mind you've deceived my heart
And where your lies end the heartaches just start
Did I call you friend? I was sadly mistaken
for your knowledge stems from lie's father, satan
How can I think when I can't distinguish
the flesh which is weak from my will un-relinquished?
Mind, Mind you give me no choice
both ways leave me stranded and I can't hear His voice
All. I've demanded affords no satisfaction
the more that you speak the weaker I grow
I shield Love's reaction, the guilt still will grow
Give it up now, afford me some rest
the spirit speaks softly, the mind mustn't lead
I'm fighting, I'm begging to pass this one test
Mind, Mind I harness your power
Speak His will into being in my weakest hour.

"The unspiritual self, just as it is by nature, can’t receive the gifts of God’s Spirit. There’s no capacity for them. They seem like so much silliness. Spirit can be known only by spirit—God’s Spirit and our spirits in open communion. Spiritually alive, we have access to everything God’s Spirit is doing, and can’t be judged by unspiritual critics. Isaiah’s question, “Is there anyone around who knows God’s Spirit, anyone who knows what he is doing?” has been answered: Christ knows, and we have Christ’s Spirit."- 1 Cor 2: 14-16 The Message
